And it needs to be absolutely fucking boss. It should be inked, should have dynamic shadows and perspectives and backgrounds. This shit is serious. Deadline is next Thursday, March 1.
When our teacher gave us this task, I immediately thought that making a small comic of My Queen's backstory, compressing everything that happened to her in the past within two pages.
Not only will I get the hang of drawing her repeatedly, but I bet it might be great entertainment for you guys.
If I can't figure out how to squish her story into two pages, or at least part of it, I'll have to settle for another story. It's just that it wouldn't be as epic, and I might half-ass it. :\
If anyone could give me any ideas, whether on how to squeeze my OC's story into two A4 sized papers or to come up with a new story, feel free to comment below!
Aheheh, sure. Well I'm pretty sure you know about choosing your source of light. Sometimes I draw a circle that represents where my light is coming from. Then I just work out my shading from there. Then there's 'reflective light'.. It's a thin line of light that you can see in the most heavily-shaded areas. It just gives the picture a 'pop'.
Hmmmmm... I never thought of trying that. Sounds like a pretty useful technique. I wonder if you know anything about blending colors and shading once your done? And I also have some trouble with coloring some places that it picks up another color. That happens to me sometimes.
Gee well, I'm not sure if I understand what you mean.
Blending colors? I usually pick out flats and then blend in whatever colors I want either with a smudge tool on Photoshop or a watercolor tool on SAI. Shading comes much later, like after you're completely done laying your flats down. If you're talking about blending shadows to the art, then I always rely on SAI's airbrush tool. It works wonders.
For your second problem, I always keep a palette on another layer just in case. I would choose the colors I want first. Say I want red, yellow and brown. I take the shades I want and then draw spots or dabs on the actual picture. Think of this as a place to get 'more paint'. You don't get more paint for painting from the actual picture, right?
Sounds quite useful. I mainly use SAI's color pallet. I don't make dabs of paint on the artwork im coloring. (although I know how it works and I seen people do that before and I know a few who do that. ZeroOtaku was a girl I knew years ago. She always did that on her Megaman Zero projects)
BTW, did you see my WIP on DA? I can send you a PM if you like?
